One of the major problems of small business is finding funding to help start up or expand the business. It can be difficult to receive the right information to get grants for small businesses in Canada. Nevertheless, there is a business guide available since 1998 that can help business owners how to apply for business grants.

Seeking help for your business grant can be important particularly because you may only get one chance when you apply. Therefore, it's imperative that you know how to apply, including techniques like personal contact, and speeding up the process of government business financing. Government business grants and loans in Canada often come with specific rules and criteria, that's why you need to understand the standards set for both the Canadian federal and provincial government funding programs for business.

Latest Survey on Small Business

Small businesses in Canada often use surveys and other data to help them make informed decisions about the management of their enterprise. HSBC has recently come out with its semi-annual survey of small businesses around the world. The survey was done in May and June, and the overall conclusion from it was that small businesses across the globe are feeling optimistic and positive about future opportunities.

It seems that small businesses in emerging markets and developing countries have more to feel better about compared to developed markets such as in the European Union and North America. Nevertheless, it seems that small businesses in Canada and the United States are still feeling much better about their prospects. As the global economy recovers, there is room for optimism, although many small business owners still worry about the uncertainty of a recurring recession.

The new BizPal service has just been released with the support of the Governments of Canada, Saskatchewan and Humboldt. BizPal is tipped to help entrepreneurs save time and reduce paperwork as it will be a new online business permit and license service.

This is intended to encourage entrepreneurs to start up and run their small businesses faster as the BizPal innovation also gives them easy access to information about permits and licenses. The online service was formed under special collaboration between the federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments. Small and medium-sized businesses contribute greatly to the economy of Canada, and so BizPal is a demonstration of the Government of Canada's commitment to ensuring their continued success in access to financing and reducing taxes.

Advantages of Business Incorporation in Canada

Advantages of Business Incorporation in Canada

It can be a big decision for small businesses to finally decide to incorporate. Paul Woolford, a tax partner with KPMG Enterprise in Toronto, Canada, shares some advice about the benefits of incorporation for both the business and the business owner. One advantage of incorporation is that your business will be able to access exemption from capital gains. Another benefit for the business owner is the protection of their personal assets.

Incorporating your business can limit your liability because incorporation creates a legal separation of your personal and business assets. Furthermore, business incorporation allows you to defer some of your expenses. These tax advantages are some of the major reasons why you should incorporate your business in Canada, however, it must be weighed up against the potential administrative and legal costs of doing so.
